Aug. 2--Central Food Group, one of the country's largest fast-food and restaurant operators, will spend about 500 million baht to aggressively expand the US pretzel and snack chain Auntie Anne's within three years, including doubling the number of outlets to 100.
Executive director Thiradej Chirathivat said yesterday the total investment outlay included spending for outlet expansion and marketing, mainly to strengthen brand awareness. With 100 outlets, the group projects sales of the brand to approach 500 million baht within three years.
By the end of this year, Auntie Anne's network will total 45 shops, up from the current 28, mostly in Bangkok. Two to three more shops in provincial markets are being considered, in addition to those located in Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Nakhon Pathom.
"The snack market has good potential to grow and no major player apart from Auntie Anne's has tapped this area," said Mr Thiradej.
Central Food Group plans to spend at least 200 million baht this year to open new outlets of its various restaurant chains, which also include KFC, Pizza Hut, Mister Donut and Baskin Robbins.
At present, it has 320 outlets operating under all of its brands.
