Aug. 13--Can a trio of business barons help several thousand unemployed Pillowtex Corp. workers and others in Cabarrus County land jobs?
The Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce is willing to pay $55,000 to find out. The money covers a half-page, one-time ad in USA Today for an open letter to Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Oprah Winfrey, chamber Chief Executive Officer John Cox said Tuesday.
The nationwide ad will ask them or their "visionary friends" to consider relocating some operations to Cabarrus County, said Cox, who is finalizing wording of the ad.
