Oct. 23--Southwest Washington Medical Center wants to expand and enhance its information technology systems. To meet that goal, it is considering outsourcing the work.
The change could affect about 50 medical center employees who, among other tasks, manage hospital computers, program software and provide technology "help desk" support.
In outlining the plan, medical center president Joe Kortum, said that the change would likely save the medical center money, but emphasized that it would not mean a work force reduction.
