Sep. 5--New Zealand will observe how Thailand and Australia work on the establishment of a bilateral free trade agreement before engaging in any trade liberalisation, New Zealand's Minister for Trade Negotiations has said.
Speaking in Bangkok on his way to the Asean economic ministers' meeting in Phnom Penh this week, Jim Sutton said that although New Zealand had signed a bilateral free trade area (FTA) pact with Singapore two years ago, the country had only just agreed to consider a joint study with Thailand on free trade.
