Michigan Man Admits to Funding Terror with Interstate Cigarette-Smuggling Ring.

Sep. 19--A key player in a multimillion-dollar interstate cigarette smuggling ring that contributed some of its proceeds to suspected terrorist organization Hizballah pleaded guilty Thursday to providing material support for terrorism.
Hassan Moussa Makki, 41, of Dearborn, one of 12 people indicted this year in a scheme to buy low-tax cigarettes in North Carolina and sell them in Michigan, also pleaded guilty to participating in a racketeering conspiracy. It's believed to be the first guilty plea in Michigan for aiding terrorism. In June, two men were convicted of the charge in Detroit federal court.
