Oct. 1--Thai ambassadors hope co-ordination among state agencies stationed abroad will be improved from today onward as the country's 83 ambassadors and consul-generals embark on their new roles as "chief executive officers".
Poor co-ordination among officials from different agencies posted abroad and even within the country has been a major stumbling block in improving the effectiveness of Thailand's diplomatic missions.
Many ambassadors have voiced concern that whenever they make suggestions to officials outside the Foreign Ministry, or ask for co-operation on an issue, they often receive no response.
