Oct. 6--Two rival retailers are putting a big effort into attracting Apec delegates and their spouses during the Bangkok summit later this month.

Central Department Store and The Emporium are spending millions of baht each on interior decoration and floral arrangements to create a colourful ambience from Oct 6 to 23, as well as providing special offers, services and gifts.

They are handing out discount shopping coupons and guide books on tourist attractions and offering such services such as free limousines from the department stores to hotels for all Apec delegates and participants.
