Oct. 6--The authorities' recent move to enhance tariff privileges for jewellery companies to set up production in designated industrial estates is expected to usher in new industrial investment both from local and overseas sources.

The decision by the Board of Investment (BoI) to extend the period of exemption from corporate tax and duties for imported raw materials and machinery would particularly spur Thailand's gems and jewellery industry, said Boonyong Assarasakorn, chief executive of IGS Plc.
