Nov. 5--The number of participants in meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (Mice) held in Thailand is expected to slightly drop this year from 412,919 last year due the Sars-triggered tourism downturn.
According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), revenue from Mice visitors and accompanying delegates reached 34 billion baht last year, a 24 percent increase from the previous year.
This year, the figure is expected to fall slightly due to the decline in Mice events but a return to growth is anticipated as of next year, said Phornsiri Manoharn, TAT deputy governor for marketing.
