Nov. 4--Thai stocks gained 3.21 percent to close at a six-year high on strong foreign buying of banks, chemicals and building construction stocks.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand index rose 20.51 points to close at 659.96, its highest since August 1997. Turnover totalled 46.6 billion baht.

The SET has risen more than 10 percent in the past month and 79 percent over the past 12 months, making the Thai market one of the best performing equity markets in the region this year.

The blue-chip SET50 index rose 3.98 percent to 39.68 points, while the small-cap Market for Alternative Investment index fell 0.05 percent ...
