Major Cineplex Sees Boost from Digital Imax Films in Thailand, Singapore.

Nov. 4--Major Cineplex Group Plc, the country's largest cinema chain, has spent 10 million baht to promote digital screenings at its Imax theatre as part of its plan to draw new moviegoers.

Imax DMR (Digital re-Mastering Release) is available in only two Asian nations: Thailand and Singapore.

The technology will be on display tomorrow with the premiere of The Matrix: Revolutions. Next year the company plans to show four to five more DMR releases, including the new Spider Man and Harry Potter films.

Anavach Ongvasith, senior vice-president for marketing, said digital screenings could lift Imax sales by 20 percent from the current 600,000 tickets ...
