The latest buzz from Nevada State Veterinarian David Thain is far less welcome than another appearance by Linda Ronstadt at the Aladdin: The mosquito-born West Nile Virus very likely will be coming to Las Vegas soon.
And that means chances of catching the disease could be only a mosquito bite away.
So goes a scientific prognostication in the wake of an announcement Tuesday by the Nevada Department of Agriculture that mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in the Lyon County communities of Silver Springs and Fernley, both east of Reno.
"I think it's very, very likely that some humans will come down with the disease," Thain said.…
