Nov. 6--Thai shares rose yesterday for the sixth straight session, gaining 1.3 percent on foreign buying of blue-chip stocks.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand index closed at 673.70, up 8.64 points, on trade worth 49.1 billion baht. Foreign investors were net buyers of 174.8 million baht worth of securities, with 6.5 billion baht in total buy orders.
Trading was volatile throughout the day, with the index dipping to an intra-day low of 661.09 after Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra directed the SET and the Securities and Exchange Commission to tighten monitoring of possible speculation on the market.
