Nov. 6--National Finance and Thanachart Bank expect to finalise a merger next year, once the new financial master plan is formally approved by regulators, according to Banterng Tantivit, chairman of the National Finance Group.

He said the merger process would be aimed at maximising shareholder benefits and supporting business expansion, with details to be finalised in early 2004.

Thanachart Bank, with assets of 57 billion baht as of Sept 30, would see its assets rise to 160 billion after the merger, on par with Bank of Asia.
