Nov. 12--QUESTION: My wife, an hourly employee for a national cemetery and funeral company, is required to work 50 hours a week. The company pays her time-and-a-half for 10 overtime hours, but every week she works more than 50 hours.
Her employer has told her she can only put 50 hours on her time sheet, no matter how many hours she works. (One recent week she worked 64 hours.)
I have insisted she keep a daily personal log to track the number of hours she works. But if challenged, I'm sure her employer would say she only worked the 50 hours shown on her time sheet.
Unfortunately, in today's job market she is afraid ...
