Dec. 5--Strategies to complement the Singapore hub and create attractive atmosphere for oil traders are critical to promoting Thailand as a regional energy trading hub, an energy expert said yesterday.

Instead of competing directly, Thailand and Singapore should tap each other's strengths, said Khunying Thongtip Ratanarat, executive director of the Petroleum Institute of Thailand.

Singapore is very strong in marine transport for oil shipments but it needs a country like Thailand as a transit point to penetrate inland markets.
