Nov. 24--The annual hospitality giveaway is in full swing in Central Florida.

The Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association recently handed out more than $57,000 in scholarships and grants from its education trust fund.

"This is the most we've ever done, the highest [total] in our 23-year history," said Richard Maladecki, president of the Orlando-based group, which represents about 80 percent of the hotel industry in Central Florida, the state's leading hotel market.

In a ceremony at the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando, the association presented scholarships worth at least $1,100 each to 18 students…
