Dec. 4--The government's planned massive investment on large-scale infrastructure and transport projects may hit a snag due to a shortage of cranes unless taxes and regulations on imported cranes are eased, an industry association said yesterday.
The existing 2,000 cranes in the Thai market today were inadequate to serve demand driven by booming property and construction businesses, said Thongchai Charoenratchadej, president of the Professional Crane Association (PCA).
He said the rebounding economy had also pushed up housing demand over the past three years, driving the total demand of cranes to exceed 3,000 units.
