Dec. 1--Samsung Electronics is set to transform its Thai operations into one of the giant Korean firm's strategic operations on par with entities in Russia, Germany and China.
The firm noted that Thailand was chosen because its operations have performed very well and the country has relatively long-term economic and political stability and skilled labour.
The Thai operations will pay a key role in the company's goal to become the leading consumer electronics firm in Asia by 2006 and this will result in more spending on communications, new product development and other investments.
