Dec. 1--In business, it pays to be the first. This is why Thai businessman Sackchai Wongmalasith is investing in property development in sleepy, landlocked Laos.
Mr Sackchai is chairman of Thai World Group, which is building Laos' first trade exhibition centre cum entertainment complex in the outskirts of the capital city of Vientiane.
"The purchasing power of the Lao people might not be as great compared to other countries in the region," he said. "But if we're the only one there, then it's a good business opportunity."
