Dec. 8--Chiang Rai is preparing to embark on billions of baht worth of infrastructure projects to facilitate growing trade volume from China and neighbouring countries.
The start of a free trade area (FTA) pact covering fruit and vegetables between Thailand and China in October has accelerated trade volume at Mekong River ports in Chiang Rai. The province expects more than 3,000 calls from Chinese boats to the Chiang Saen port this year, up from 1,000 last year.
