Dec. 6--A surge in demand for flu vaccine has dried up manufacturers' supplies, creating shortages already being felt in communities throughout California, including the Sacramento region.
The two makers of flu vaccine in the United States said Friday that they have run out of vaccine, and California health officials said they have distributed all 524,000 doses to supply county clinics throughout the state.
Locally, two health departments -- in Yolo and El Dorado counties -- have used up their available vaccine. Sacramento County, which has concluded its low-cost flu vaccine clinics, still has vaccine available, as does Placer County.
