Dec. 17--Cavalier Telephone has begun accepting new customers from the Bethia exchange in southwestern Chesterfield County.

Richmond-based Cavalier had not been accepting new customers in Bethia since the spring of 2002, although it continued to provide service to its existing customers there.

Cavalier competes with incumbent telecommunications service provider Verizon and others in the Bethia exchange area, which includes several subdivisions along the U.S. 360 corridor west of Clover Hill High School.
