As the crow flies, it's 350 miles to Las Vegas from where the first hard evidence of West Nile Virus in Northern Nevada was found last week. At least one crow can't make the flight. It died of the disease.
What does a finding of West Nile Virus in Carson City -- on July 16 a swab taken from a dead crow found in a woman's yard tested positive for the disease -- mean to Clark County?
"Just because the virus has been detected in the state doesn't mean it's a cause for alarm," said Richard Hicks, entomologist and supervisor for Clark County's Vector Control Department.
