Dec. 18--One of the Richmond area's most successful female business executives is moving up another notch at the country's biggest hospital company.

Marilyn Tavenner, who began her career as a nurse, has been president of HCA Inc.'s Central Atlantic Division since 2001, overseeing the operations of 18 hospitals in Virginia, West Virginia and New Hampshire. Next month, she'll become group president for outpatient services for HCA, based in Nashville, Tenn.

In her new post, Tavenner, 52, will be responsible for all of HCA's nonhospital outpatient services, including a national network of 82 ambulatory surgical centers. Two …
