Dec. 29--An agreement for the state of Alaska to work cooperatively on oil and gas leasing with private landowners and local governments in the Aleutians and Alaska Peninsula was signed Dec. 18.

State Natural Resources Commisisoner Tom Irwin signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Martha Malavansky, president of the Aleut Corp., the Alaska Native regional corporation for the Aleutians similar to one signed with Bristol Bay Native Corp. last fall.

The Aleut Corp. and BBNC both own lands on the Alaska Peninsula, where there are also state-owned onshore lands as well as offshore submerged lands.
