Dec. 29--Natural gas pipeline entrepreneur Ken Thompson says his Alaska startup company, Pacific Star Energy, could bring over 32,000 jobs and more than $1.8 billion in added value to the state's economy through investments in gas pipelines and related projects.
The jobs and added value result because the company is owned primarily by Alaska interests, Thompson told the Alaska Support Industry Alliance Dec. 17. That means profits will be paid to shareholders in the state instead of outside Alaska, and more of the money will stay in the state, he said.
Pacific Star Energy hired Northern Economics Inc., an Anchorage-based consulting firm, to do the analysis.
