ST. LOUIS _ It seems so hard to imagine after all these years, but in the formative years of his wondrous legend, Michael Jordan was not always viewed with such all-out reverence as he is in this his final NBA season.

The NBA All-Star Weekend in Atlanta has been a three-day lovefest to the legend of the greatest basketball player of all time. His Airness has been treated like exalted athletic royalty as he competes in this, the 14th and final All-Star appearance of his stunning career. But there was a time when his peers and fans alike did not see him as the cold-blooded ultimate winner with all that championship jewelry.
