Jul. 14--Everybody knows that it's buyer beware at a pawnshop.
The shelves are stocked with used products that were provided as collateral on personal loans.
So what happens when a piece of that secondhand merchandise fails and a tragedy occurs?
The victim sues the pawnshop, of course.
What's surprising about this story is that the victim had a strong enough case to go three days into a trial and then get a hefty settlement.
That happened last month with Francisco Garcia, who sued Cash America after he fell 30 feet from a tree. The accident occurred three years ago near McAllen, and it left the tree trimmer permanently paralyzed at the age of 24.
