Debut plays to MC's strengths: Verbalicious creates demand for debut paid-for download, helped by exposure on Radio One.(The Plot)
VERBALICIOUS DON'T PLAY NICE (ADVENTURE RECORDS)
UK artist Verbalicious last week joined the growing list of new acts making an impact with a download as their first introduction to the public.
Although not accompanied by a physical release, Don't Play Nice was made available last Monday to tic in with exposure by Radio One, where the song was the track of the week on Colin Murray and Edith Bowman's show.
"We were all very impressed with Verbalicious ever since she won the MC battle at Radio 1's One Live in Leeds event last year," says Murray.
"She absolutely oozes star quality and has the potential to become top of the pile very quickly".
The paid-for download, which was enabled by 7 Digital Media, was linked to from Radio One's website, which also staged a vote about the song's popularity. Seventy per cent of visitors ...
