Jul. 16--CURRITUCK, N.C. -- Blackwater USA will move its aviation operations from Florida to the Currituck County Regional Airport, bringing with them about 10 aircraft and 25 jobs.
Currituck County plans to build a taxiway, an apron and a 25,000-square-foot hangar, funded in part by a $630,000 federal grant.
Blackwater will lease the hangar for 15 years with an option to buy it.
Of the 25 jobs, about 10 would be filled by local aircraft maintenance workers, Bill Mathews, Blackwater executive vice president, said in a statement. The company wants to move here and have the hangar and taxiway complete in early 2005,…
