WALNUT CREEK, Calif. _ In their search for the canal trail killer, police have taken shirts stained with dirt and grass and a washing machine from John Henry Kahler's house.
Kahler jumped to his death from the Golden Gate on May 14, the day after Kathy Aiello Loreck, was found mortally beaten in a ravine off the Contra Costa Canal Trail.
In a search warrant filed Wednesday in Contra Costa Superior Court, detectives listed items they took May 16 from the Kahler house, located three-quarters of a mile away from the trail.
