DOHA, Qatar _ Wrapping up a week of fence-mending in Europe and the Middle East, President Bush spent Thursday on the issue that could bring those fences right back down: the rebuilding of Iraq.
Continuing violence in Iraq and the search for weapons of mass destruction dominated Bush's talks with Gen. Tommy Franks, head of U.S.-led forces in the Persian Gulf region, and L. Paul Bremer, leader of the U.S. occupation authority in Iraq.
"We've got a lot of work to do in Iraq," Bush later told American troops in Qatar. "And we're going to stay the course until the job gets done."
Bush concluded his trip with a victory celebration of sorts, as Air Force One flew over Iraq for more than an hour en route to Washington, fighter escorts in tow. As aides looked on, Bush pointed out various landmarks, including the Baghdad airport, officials said.
