Jul. 15--The Washington Wine Commission yesterday chose Jane Baxter Lynn, a Long Island wine-industry promoter, as its new executive director.

Steve Burns, the commission's former director for the past eight years, retired from the position June 1, but has stayed on while the group searched for a new director. The commission is expected to announce Baxter Lynn's appointment today.

"This is a very exciting and logical next step for me professionally. I had fabulous experience with the Long Island Wine Council and now I'm ready to take it to Washington," said Baxter Lynn. She starts Aug. 26 -- in time for the Auction of…
