Jul. 14--BELMAR, N.J. -- Instead of scrapping plans for a geothermal heating system at Belmar Elementary School, the Board of Education will opt to rebid the centerpiece of its $5.6 million referendum project with fewer requirements.
Under the new plan, approved Thursday night, contractors will place bids with several alternate options -- including the possible elimination of work in the school's gymnasium, auditorium and 1994 addition -- that could give officials breathing room to combat increasing project costs.
