PHILADELPHIA _ Two former La Salle University basketball players were charged Thursday night with a long list of sexual-assault offenses in the alleged rape of a woman in a university dorm on June 24.
One suspect, Michael Cleaves, 22, a 5-10 guard from Paterson, N.J., turned himself in with his lawyer at 8:45 p.m. He was being processed at police headquarters Thursday night.
Police sources said a warrant had been issued for the second suspect, Gary Neal, 19, a 6-4 guard from Baltimore who was in Atlanta ready to board a plane Thursday night for Philadelphia.
Both were key players on the Explorers, who finished 10-20 last season.
