In the early evening of April 26, four-year-old Emily Paige Stinnett and her three-year-old stepsister were playing on a swing set in the yard of their home in Hodgenville, Kentucky. The family's pit bull was chained to a tie-out stake nearby, but the dirt was wet and the 80-pound dog managed to pull the stake out of the ground. It then viciously attacked and began mauling young Emily.
Mrs. Stinnett was home, but did not become aware of the attack until she went to check on the children. She frantically tried to loosen the dog's grip on her daughter's head. But, unable to do so, she then ran to a friend's house to seek help. ...
