SUNA is an organization made up of many unique individuals brought together through a common goal of providing high-quality urologic patient care. When I first came to urology over 10 years ago, I wondered how I might be able to network with other urology nurses to expand my knowledge base and learn to better care for my patients. My predecessor at the institution and the urologist I work with told me about SUNA and my hospital provided support for me to attend my first national conference in Las Vegas. After that incredible conference, I knew I would be in SUNA for the long haul. Not only did I confirm the knowledge I had about urology, but I learned many knew things as well. I met nurses from all over the country who were doing the same things I was doing in Chicago.

A Dynamic Fabric

SUNA is an organization filled with passionate professionals and the excitement is contagious. This organization is a patchwork of many individuals of whose fibers create a strong and beautiful quilt. As we work together towards the future, each person plays a crucial role in creating the dynamic intricate fabric of our professional organization. Over the years, I have become more involved with SUNA and with each new role discovered wonderful friendships and the opportunity to expand the profession of urologic nursing.

Patients share the most intimate details of their lives with urology nurses and in turn we facilitate them in their journey toward healing. The demands of health care make it more critical than ever that we work together to advocate for the highest quality care for our patients.
