S-Class not classy enough

What an extreme disappointment the styling cues are on the new Mercedes S-Class (June 21). I understand the images are computer rendered, but I hope they do not indicate what Mercedes intends to release. While the car will have the newest creature comforts, the front end looks boring and dated. Headlight treatment has digressed to something from the '80s.

I've been anticipating this car for quite a while, expecting an understated appearance with a somewhat muscular stance. I hope negative market reaction will play a major role in helping to revamp this design.

We did it, and it was great

Thanks to Cory Farley for the June 14 column on road trips and how they're a rite of passage. In 2002 my friends and I (all between ages 18 and 20 at the time) packed up a '95 Saturn with 95,000 miles and drove it from Philadelphia to San Francisco, then down Highway 1 to Los Angeles, then back home, all in two weeks. It was one of the best times in our lives and we highly recommend it to anyone our age. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.
