Jul. 6--Local economists say a decision by the European Union last week to extend a ban on Thai fresh poultry exports until the end of the year will have little impact on overall economic growth.
One Bank of Thailand executive said total chicken exports were valued at only around US$1 billion per year, or 1.27 percent of total exports in 2003. Fresh chicken accounted for around half of all chicken exports last year.
