Jul. 5--Asean and China still have hurdles to overcome before agreeing to the establishment of the world's largest's free trade area agreement with 1.7 billion consumers, according to a Thai Commerce Ministry official.

In the latest meeting between Asean and Chinese officials in China last month, the two sides agreed to let individual Asean countries negotiate with China separately on sensitive goods and set parameters that included limiting sensitive products to less than 10 percent of the approximately 5,000 items under discussion.
