Jul. 3--A property expert has called for banks to provide five-year fixed-rate loans to homebuyers to avoid a rise in non-performing loans, now that interest rates are expected to creep up in line with the rise in the key US rate this week.
Manop Bongsadadt, a lecturer at Chulalongkorn University, said the government should make consumers aware of the correlation between higher interest rates and higher monthly loan payments.
