2004 JUL 7 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Utah's largest community-based health care provider has agreed to pay $267,000 to state and federal agencies for improperly using vaccines intended for needy children, officials said June 15, 2004.
Community Health Centers Inc. made the payment after an investigation and settlement negotiations with the Utah Attorney General's Office, the U.S. Attorney's office and the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Health and Services.
The settlement funds will go to the Vaccines for Children program, a federally funded program administered by the Utah Department of Health to provide vaccines to children from low-income families.
"This settlement does two things: taxpayers get their money back and the free vaccines will only go to the children who need it most," said U.S. Attorney Paul Warner.
