2004 JUL 7 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Beckman Coulter, Inc., (BEC) announced the commercial availability of its new iTopia Epitope Discovery System, which incorporates a proprietary technology announced last year at the World Vaccine Congress.
The new iTopia system provides biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies with a new tool for predicting immune response in vaccine characterization and design.
By mimicking in vivo peptide binding, an early indicator of immune response, the new system enables researchers to make better decisions earlier in the vaccine design and development process.
The system brings efficiency and specificity to vaccine design. iTopia can quickly identify the most immunogenic regions of the peptide/protein by employing well proven characterization techniques of on/off rates and affinity analysis to individual epitopes of the vaccine. The information obtained from the iTopia system can then be applied to the monitoring of patients in clinical trials by identifying the individuals a vaccine is most likely to protect.
