Responding To Jack Kemp
In "Rx For GOP Victory In Fall: Pro-Trade, Pro-Immigration" (Viewpoint, Wednesday), Jack Kemp does not distinguish between legal and illegal immigrants. He appears to advocate illegal immigration and actually takes the position that it is good for America. One wonders what other federal laws Kemp believes people should ignore. Since he opposes high taxes, does he suggest we refuse to pay our federal income taxes?
Kemp also poses as one who advocates "wealth creation for the little guy." But doesn't he realize that the "little guy's" wages and benefits have been held down because he must compete for jobs and wages with the beloved illegal aliens?
Unfortunately, there are billions of desperately poor people in the world. Does Kemp really believe the U.S. would be a better place if they all came here?

Jack, it is not like you to enter an argument without having a command of the facts, so I was surprised and disappointed to see you do just that in "Rx For GOP Victory In Fall." You attack me and the 148 Republican House members who voted in June to restrict funds to cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration laws.
Jack, your sweeping attack shows you are sadly ignorant of fellow Republicans' concerns regarding illegal immigration.
