A weak commercial construction market slowed financial growth at Genlyte Group the last few years, and company execs don't see a significant uptick until later this year or early next year.
That's the bad news.
The good: Genlyte, the nation's third largest light fixture maker, keeps on posting steady -- if slow -- financial gains.
The company makes and sells outdoor lighting equipment for commercial, residential and industrial markets. Its annual earnings grew in single digits the past three years.
Chief Executive Larry Powers sees a pickup beginning next year. For now, he says, there's no reason to get excited.
"The overall commercial construction market is still relatively soft," he said. "There are some . . . pockets of activity, but all in all, it's still pretty weak."
