Byline: MARILYN ALVA
More than 5 million Americans suffer from wounds that don't heal. Causes range from diabetes to poor blood circulation.
That's information Stuart Essig, chief executive of Integra LifeSciences, likes to share. His company recently launched a new wound-care product called Bilateral Matrix.
It's one of the new kids on Integra's tissue-engineered products block, along with a next-generation graft called DuraGen Plus.
These products should serve to ease concerns, voiced by some analysts, that Integra has become too reliant on one product in its tissue-engineered unit.
That product, DuraGen, is a graft used by brain surgeons to regenerate tissue over surgical holes. It's also Integra's single largest revenue source.
Analysts shouldn't be concerned about an overreliance on DuraGen, Essig says. Integra is seeing growth across all product lines.
