Jul. 2--Price competition in the domestic cement market has intensified following a recent move by Siam City Cement Plc (SCCC) to penetrate the low-price segment.
The company said slow domestic cement consumption this year had prompted it to revise down its demand growth projection this year to between 7 percent and 8 percent from 10 percent.
The slowdown poses a challenge for the new SCCC president, Leo Mittelholzer, who declared yesterday that keeping the current SCCC market position "is not enough" for his assignment.
