JAKARTA, July 1 Asia Pulse - Canadian Foreign Minister Bill Graham has said that the security situation in Indonesia is improving and there are no reasons for Canada to keep its travel advisory.
"The issuance of the travel advisory depends on the security situation in a country," Graham, accompanied by Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Randolph Mank, told ANTARA on the sidelines of Canada Day held by the Canadian embassy here on Wednesday night.
He said that his side had removed the travel warning issued in Indonesia because the security situation in the country was improving.
"We have removed the travel warning in Indonesia and it is a good thing for the two countries," he said.
Asked whether or not Canada would issue more travel warnings in the future in Indonesia, he said that "we will continue to review what condition in the country was".
The government of Canada has lifted a travel warning it had issued in May 2004 to its citizens wishing to travel to Indonesian province of South Sulawesi. The lifting had to do with an improvement of security situation in the region in a post terror action againts foreign expatriates working at PT Inco, a nickel mining company in Soroako.
The warning had been lifted since Saturday morning (June 26).
