Folly to get only $500,000 for beach.

The federal government could give Folly Beach $500,000 this year to begin a project to rebuild the beach, a sliver of the federal match city officials hoped to get.

The money is part of a larger disbursement approved by the House, which includes waterway and environmental projects at Charles-ton Harbor, Murrells Inlet, Waccamaw River and Pawleys Island.

Folly Beach city officials expected $12 million from the federal government for this second sand renourishment project.
